UNDERNEATH _Solo Exhibition by Karen Fabbro
Opening Saturday, March 15, 5:30 pm | [On view from 03/15 – 04/13/2025]
The Open Art House Homegallery is pleased to invite you to the opening of Karen Fabbro’s solo exhibition on Saturday, March 15 at 5:30 pm in the OAH Homegallery.
Karen Fabbro is a young sculptor (1999) who was born in Verona and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence in 2021.
On display will be eight works, including two site-specific installations created specifically for our space.
An artist discovered during the last edition of the ArtRise Prize, she was among the participants of the final group exhibition, but now we present her in the whole of her personal journey, which will surely help to show her potential and her artistic research.
Sotto Sotto is a path of denunciation in relation to urgent issues that she has the need to see clearly and to show them for what they are, without captions or personal judgments; naked and raw.
Karen is young and courageous, determined to remove from life the devious and deceptive mechanisms that make this generation content to slumber on the bed of superficiality. This exhibition is meant to be like a jolt that appears in the midst of light, colorful and playful works, among the cotton wool of life to which we are comfortably addicted, to the point of filling it with pleasures.
The artist challenges us to open our eyes wide, to evaluate the situation and to act in order to make a difference without fear.
“'Ingenious. The first word that should strike us, in the act of viewing Karen Fabbro's works, should be the one just written at the beginning of the paragraph. How to organize a multitude of materials to represent a park of urgencies? By doing so, that is, by leaning on the hinge of the ingenious, all the material combinations will begin to appear to us arranged according to a well-calculated reasoning, which straightens hopes, because we will better grasp reality, supported by the use of a metaphorical proceeding, where the symbol does not run away to distant destinations becoming difficult to intellectualize, but rather inviting the viewer to discard it better, leveraging a precise line of division.” ( extract from the critical text by M.Mo)
