Relational Architectures_Resilient connections to redefine places of work and memory
Anastasia Moro solo show
Opening: Saturday, 7 November 2026, 5:30 pm
On view: 7 November – 12 December 2026
Workshop: Sunday, 8 November 2026, 2:30 – 5:30 pm
The exhibition is the outcome of an artist residency won by Anastasia Moro through her participation in the fourth edition of the ArtRise Prize, organised by OAH_Homegallery.
The residency was designed ad hoc to support a project the artist was in the process of developing, Tessere la Storia (Weaving History), which she was able to complete in Ivrea.
Like an anthropologist, Anastasia Moro lived in Ivrea during the month of July, taking part in the life of the community while observing, documenting and photographing. Accompanied by the guides of the Visitor Center, she explored the Olivetti sites recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, “Ivrea, industrial city of the 20th century”, gathering information and images: details, objects, corners of the city.
The idea is to make the invisible visible: relational architectures, that is, the bonds that today can redefine places of work and memory, true bulwarks of human resilience. The artist does so through a technique that is both digital and manual. Black-and-white photographs are cut by hand and interwoven, two or three at a time, like warp threads on a loom, interspersed with thin strips of mirror paper, until they form unique works.
Through this patient work of cutting and weaving, Anastasia Moro tells the story of the slow, natural formation of places and of the relationships between people and machines. Fragments of time and pieces of life merge, drawing together and weaving the centuries up to the present day.
It is Relational Architectures that build the bridge between past and present. With resilient perseverance, each of us, whether passer-by or resident, is called upon to weave the history of this heritage left to Ivrea, seeking points of connection to strengthen, renew and extend the values of such an important legacy.
During the opening on Saturday, 7 November, we will have the pleasure of hearing a talk by architect Matteo Olivetti, a descendant of Adriano Olivetti.
Matteo Olivetti has long been committed to sharing the vision of the Ivrea-born entrepreneur and the value of the legacy he left to the city: he has spoken at conferences devoted to Olivetti’s history and thought, met student groups visiting Ivrea to explain the ideas and places of that project, and served on the jury of Olivetti Theatre, the international architecture competition promoted by YAC and Manni Group to imagine the completion of the original 1958 library project, now home to the Adriano Olivetti Leadership Institute.
His presence holds special meaning for this exhibition. Relational Architectures is about places of work and memory and the bonds that keep them alive: hearing from someone who belongs to the Olivetti family and works today on that legacy gives the public a direct, insider’s view of the heritage that Anastasia Moro has explored, photographed and woven into her works. His talk will be a bridge between the history of Ivrea, Adriano Olivetti’s vision and the artist’s contemporary research.
The following day, Sunday 8 November, from 2:30 to 5:30 pm, Open Art House_homegallery will host a photo-weaving workshop led by Anastasia Moro, where participants can learn to use her technique: hand-cutting and interweaving black-and-white photographs. Participants are welcome to bring their own photographs; otherwise, materials will be provided on site.
