Alessandro Lando
Alessando Lando
He attended and graduated from the Felice Faccio Art Institute in Castellamonte.
He continually experiments with both painting and sculpture. He has taken part in various exhibitions, including the Castellamonte ceramics exhibition. In 2004, he moved to Spain. There, he continued to paint, became a member of the APLAMA association (Asociación de Artistas Plásticos de Málaga) and, in collaboration with them, took part in two group exhibitions (2018–2019), a drawing competition and a solo exhibition.
His works are exhibited at ‘La Casa Amarilla’ in Málaga. In 2022, he returned to Italy, and in 2023 he was selected as a finalist in the third edition of the Artrise Prize.
Alessandro Lando’s oil paintings might appear to be still lifes – everyday objects captured in their natural essence and bathed in a vibrant light that emphasises their materiality – yet the composition and choice of subjects evoke ancient references. Like contemporary vanitas paintings, his works are questions to be interpreted through conceptual clues.
In some carefully measured instances, Lando even introduces a sense of movement into the painting to mark and emphasise the moment of rupture, thereby amplifying the message. The colours and technique lend a sense of lightness to a profound message, thus creating a visual oxymoron.
